On Saturday 14 December 2025, Godalming United Church was filled - top to toe, rafters included, with the sound of voices as ChoirBLAST Does Christmas provided a joyful, high-energy evening of seasonal singing. Split across two events, the night offered something rare and valuable: a genuinely family-friendly celebration that still packed artistic punch.

The early concert (5.30–6.30pm) belonged to young voices. From primary-aged singers to teenagers, choirs including The Singing Foxes (a ChoirBLAST community choir), ATOM Youth Choir, Pond Meadow School Choir and Music Kids brought confidence, colour and infectious enthusiasm to the stage. Collectively, they reminded us why access to group singing matters...not as a luxury, but as a vital part of education, inclusion and wellbeing. The pride in the room was unmistakable.

As evening fell, the second event (7–10pm) showcased the breadth of adult and professional contemporary choral music in our community. Audiences were treated to performances from CORA, Off The Scale, Surrey Fringe Chorus, MbM Contemporary Gospel Choir, and the Godalming, Guildford and Farncombe Jazz Choirs, offering everything from close-harmony jazz and gospel to barbershop and contemporary arrangements. Different styles, shared purpose, one united sound.

Of course, none of this happens by magic. Behind the glitter of performance sat an army of volunteers: hauling equipment, running the raffle, pouring drinks, selling merchandise, welcoming audiences and, yes, clearing up at the end of a long night. Their generosity of time and energy is the backbone of ChoirBLAST.

ChoirBLAST Does Christmas was festive without being flimsy, celebratory without being overblown...and exactly the kind of shared experience that sends us into Christmas with lighter hearts and louder songs.
