Whilst our community choirs take a well-earned break over the summer, plans for the new academic year are already well underway. September will see familiar choirs return alongside exciting new opportunities, including our newest community partnership with Oakleaf, where we are delighted to be launching a new choir in Guildford under the leadership of ChoirBLAST trustee and choir leader, Caroline.

Over the coming months, we'd love to introduce you to each of our community choirs through a regular series of newsletter features. Every choir has its own unique story, its own community and its own challenges, but they are all united by the same belief: that singing together has the power to change lives.
At ChoirBLAST, we are passionate about taking communal singing into the places where it can make the greatest difference. Whether that's working with children, adults, older people, or individuals living with complex physical, neurological or mental health needs, our aim is always the same - to create welcoming spaces where people can build confidence, develop friendships, improve wellbeing and simply enjoy making music together.
The evidence supporting this work continues to grow. Research has consistently shown that group singing can reduce stress, improve mood, strengthen social connections and help combat loneliness. Singing together encourages the release of endorphins and oxytocin, hormones associated with happiness, trust and belonging, whilst the shared experience of making music creates powerful human connections that extend far beyond the rehearsal room. For many of our singers, choir becomes much more than a weekly activity…it becomes a community.
None of this would be possible without the incredible dedication of our choir leaders and volunteers. As everyone enjoys a chance to rest and recharge over the summer, we'd like to thank every person who has given their time, energy and enthusiasm to support our community choirs throughout the year.
As we prepare to welcome new singers this autumn, we'd also love to hear from anyone who would like to become part of the ChoirBLAST community. Whether you'd enjoy singing in one of our community choirs, supporting sessions as a volunteer, or helping behind the scenes, there are many rewarding ways to get involved. Bringing the joy of communal singing to people who might not otherwise have the opportunity is an incredibly fulfilling experience, and we'd love to welcome you.
If you'd like to find out more about becoming a community choir participant or volunteer, please contact info@choirblast.com.
Although our choirs meet independently across different communities, they remain part of something much bigger. Through shared repertoire and shared purpose, our singers have the opportunity to come together throughout the year as one ChoirBLAST community - celebrating not only the music we make, but the friendships, confidence and sense of belonging that singing creates.
We look forward to sharing more of these stories with you in the months ahead.
